NIMHD Comment Policy

You are encouraged to share your thoughts and ideas in the comment section. The views expressed in this section reflect those of the individuals who authored the comments and may not reflect those of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), or the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

NIMHD’s comment policy is designed to encourage constructive dialogue. We moderate our blogs, reviewing all comments before they can be posted to ensure compliance with our comments policy. We do not plan to respond to individual comments or questions on a routine basis.

NIMHD asks that your comments be respectful and relevant to the blog topic. We reserve the right not to post comments and the right to remove comments that are inconsistent with our policy, at our discretion. The types of comments that will not be posted include the following:

  • Vulgar, obscene, profane, threatening, or abusive language
  • Personal attacks of any kind
  • Discriminatory language (including hate speech) based on race, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or disability
  • False or misleading information
  • Endorsements of commercial products, services, organizations, political parties, or other entities
  • Repetitive posts (i.e., submitting the same idea multiple times)
  • Spam or indecipherable language (gratuitous links will be viewed as spam)
  • Content that infringes on copyrights
  • Links to external sites, with the exception of peer-reviewed article discussing topic relevant research.
  • Solicitation of funds
  • Procurement-sensitive information related to any current or future NIMHD acquisition
  • Surveys, polls, and questionnaires subject to the Office of Management and Budget’s Paperwork Reduction Act clearance
  • Personally identifiable information or sensitive information
  • Off-topic posts

NIMHD welcomes your comments at any time. However, given the need to manage federal resources responsibly, the reviewing and posting of comments will occur Monday through Friday during regular business hours.

In submitting your comments to an NIH website, you irrevocably grant NIH permission to copy, distribute, make derivatives of, display, or perform your work publicly and free of charge.

Remember that your posts are public. When posting, please do not include information in the text of your comment that personally identifies you in a way you do not intend. NIMHD asks you to provide your name (or nickname) if you would like to post a blog comment. We will publish this name along with your comment to help keep the conversation flowing. If you want us to post your comment anonymously, type “Anonymous” instead of your name when using the online comment form.

NIMHD asks for your email address so that we can contact you if necessary. Your e-mail address will NOT be published on the blog, but the blog’s administrators will be able to see it. To protect your privacy and the privacy of others, please do not include telephone numbers or email addresses in the body of your comments.

If your comments don’t meet these simple guidelines, NIMHD will not post them or will edit out the inappropriate parts. We may also edit comments for clarity or length. We may use the email address you provide to contact you regarding changes or questions about your comment.

Reporters are asked to send questions to and through their normal channels and to refrain from submitting questions here as comments. Media inquiries will not be posted or answered.
